Luke Mooty is the lead singer of Mango Coast, stepping into the role of frontman with a lifelong passion for performance. Having grown up on stage in musicals and plays, he has always been drawn to the thrill of entertaining and connecting with an audience. Influenced by artists such as Coldplay, The Backseat Lovers, Queen, and Justin Bieber, Luke brings both dynamic vocals and an energetic stage presence to the band’s sound. Though this is his first experience in a band, his love for performing drives every show, where he thrives on delivering energy and creating an immersive experience for the crowd. Offstage, Luke is a Radio-Television-Film major at UT Austin, continuing to explore his passion for storytelling and entertainment.
Edward Hyde is a founding member of Mango Coast, starting the band in February 2023. Primarily a guitarist, he also brings experience with cello and mixing, adding depth to the band’s sound. Influenced by artists like The Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, Jimi Hendrix, Sonic Youth, and Van Halen, Edward draws heavily from the “wall of sound” ideology, particularly inspired by The Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine. His favorite song is To Here Knows When, which reflects his love for layered, immersive music. Outside of the band, Edward is studying finance at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting with guitar tones, collecting vinyl, exploring new restaurants, and watching films.
Nathan Windsor is a guitarist/vocalist for Mango Coast. Inspired by blues legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn, most of his solos are improvised on the spot. Normally you’ll catch him listening to genres such as blues, rock, and r&b. Artists that are influential to him include Paul McCartney, Mac Demarco, and Labi Siffre. Alongside the guitar, he also has experience playing bass, drums, and sound engineering. Nathan hopes to pursue a professional career in music.
Patricio Cadena is the bassist for Mango Coast. His inspiration draws from all genres of music. Genres such as rock, indie, and folk have molded him to the kind of player he is. Notable artists that are influential to him include Radiohead, Pink Floyd, and Joni Mitchell. Alongside the bass, he also has experience playing guitar, drums, and the piano. Patricio recently graduated from UT with a double degree in Economics and Government.
Dustin Walters is the drummer for Mango Coast, joining the band in Fall 2024. Originally from Fairfield, Connecticut, he is currently majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. Inspired by Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dustin brings groove and energy to the band’s sound. His favorite bands include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Backseat Lovers, and Mt. Joy. In addition to drumming, he has been teaching himself guitar since the pandemic. Outside of music, Dustin enjoys hiking, climbing, snowboarding, and exploring the outdoors.
Since January 2024, Gavin has driven Mango Coast’s growth, booking over 40 shows while leading all operations. A UT McCombs BBA graduate, he oversees negotiations, builds client relationships across Texas Greek life and Austin venues, directs marketing, and manages finances and logistics to ensure every performance runs seamlessly.
A lifelong rock fan influenced by bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen, Tom Petty, and The Grateful Dead, Gavin brings the same entrepreneurial drive to Mango Coast as he does to his career in finance and his stock market content brand, How Are Markets.
